You saved up two month's worth of your salary and bought yourself a nice gun. While showing it off, a friend decides to field strip it and leaves a nice crescent moon and long Z shaped idiot scratch. Who you gonna call?

"Scratch" one friend.
If there is any good news in this the "Z" doesn't look too deep and might be removed if you can find some wet/dry sandpaper that will leave behind the same finish.
If you are referring to the "nick" at the bottom of the trigger, it to can be re-finished.
I never let others play with my new "toys" until I've put the first marks on them. Guns, Cars, Trucks, etc, nobody plays with or operates until I dent/scratch. That way I don't feel so bad and it keeps me from shortening the list of friends.
Too bad as that's a nice looking pistol.

That's SO irritating! Maybe you can polish them out with Flitz or even toothpaste?
The 1911 I'm working on is starting to show some bruising to the Parkerizing, but it'll all my own damn fault, so I don't feel too bad about it. Since it's my first one from scratch, I expected it'd never be more than a shooter grade anyway because you're going to screw up stuff as you learn, and I'm definitely doing that.

You must have the person who did this shot, pissed on, rolled in flour, and deep fried.
Anything less is an unacceptable sacrifice to the ghost of JMB.

Anything less is an unacceptable sacrifice to the ghost of JMB. We don't have to go that far. I'm told that the guy spent 14 years as an Army Ranger. We'll give him a pass for putting his life on the line. If you have an idiot scratch on your stainless steel pistol, bring it in. If you just need a basic refinishing, in the best case scenario I can have you in and out the door, on your way, in under an hour.

Great job Dreadi! I use 3M green kitchen scrubbers, 0000 steel wool, 3M magenta scotchbrite scrubbers, abrasive powder depending on the finish. Took a Mini-14 in trade that someone had polished to a mirror finish like a parade rifle. Light rub had it looking like factory new in 100th the time it took him to polish it.
