Mallard soup tonight and beaver back straps for lunch tomorrow! Always good to have the scatter gun along to run the trapline.

I make all my own swim through double powered door cages, they are based on the design from Bruce vandervort the president of the Washington state trappers association. His newest models are foldable and I'm working on incorporating that into my latest builds. They are easy to make, very little welding. Takes me about 2 hours to make one if I take my time and they hold 50+ pound beaver just fine. Otters will give them a hard run though, I have had them break out of the cage once before

No problem at all, those cages set in pinch points will put a hurting on a good population quickly. If you have great bottle neck spots check your trap every day for the first week, I have cleared out whole colony's this way. I go to a three day check after the first week when things slow down but you don't want a live beaver to see a caught beaver they get smart quickly and will get shy to the square shape of the cage. If the water is murky the cages will get a brown coating and start to camouflage themselves in a week of being in the water. If the water is clear paint them brown or black and they blend in pretty good
