Necro-merging! :zombie:

Slightly off-topic but close enough, dammit, I decided to try my first "pie" today, and I made it the peach variety.

I followed this recipe here: https://www.sparklestosprinkles.com/ins ... moonshine/

Except I doubled the alcohol . . . a full 750ml bottle of Peachtree, and a full 750ml bottle of Everclear. I don't want no wimpy sugar water. :wink05: I also couldn't find the exact type of juice that the recipe specified, so I used Apple Peach Mango juice.

Here's the goodness before the alcohol was added, just out of the Instant Pot:

And here's my final product:

Hopefully I didn't shoot myself in the foot with the extra alcohol, but I don't think so. It tastes pretty good right now, and I'm guessing it will get smoother with time . . . is that right?

That looks great Steve! May end up as more of a sipping liquor being stronger. What is the proof of the final product?

My Apple pie was more of a “hey pass that over here!” *swig*

Jesus, man. What is this, some kind of fucking math challenge?! :cussing:

Sigh.

OK, tell me if I'm doing this right:

64 oz juice = 0% = 0 oz alcohol
15 oz peaches = 0% = 0
25 oz Everclear = 95% = 23.75
25 oz Peachtree = 15% = 3.75

129 oz total, 27.5 oz alcohol

That's 21.3%, or 42.6 proof.

Did I pass? I recognize that I neglected the sugar....

P.S. It's hard to keep the proof high with that damned Peachtree watering it down! :angryfire:

I’m drinking for the first time in 30 days so I’ll just trust your math on this one.

Bear in mind you said yours was higher proof than my Apple Pie but my recipe proofed at 47.5. Not that it’s a contest but, you know, nanny nanny boo boo stick your head in doo doo! :party1:

That peach pie was good (sweet and peachy) when I just made it, but it definitely was a bit harsh from the Everclear and I decided to leave it alone for a while.

I tried it tonight, after two weeks ... oh my. This is easy-drinking stuff, and I’m very glad that I doubled the alcohol. thumbsup

So what does the GF think of it Steve? You gonna get lucky tonight or are you cuddling up with Lola on the couch after a few?

So does this equal a high potent alcohol compared to say Jack or crown? or what?? I’m a beer guy so I don’t know.

No. Most hard liquors are 80 proof, so this is about half as strong.
