A YouTube video of some hippie chick making dandelion tea came up in my feed.
So while mowing my lawn this morning I thought I’d give it a try. No real recipe. But I did make the effort to try to remove most of the green stem of the flower bud. They say you only want the yellow portion.
Along with my organic dandelions :ROFLMAO: I also have some Lemon Balm growing in my yard.
It taste fine. Very mild. I mostly taste the lemon balm. I’ll let it cool down then try it like ice tea. And I’ll also add some sugar just to see how that affects the flavor. Apparently dandelion is like a supper food. The whole plant is edible and full of nutrients and vitamins. :cheers2:

Just make sure you pick the dandelions for your tea before you spread the weed killer.

Well, that's very cool. While it doesn't interest me a whole lot, I love seeing people making new things like that!

Yeah. I doubt I’ll do it again. But I tried it. And now I know.

So, this is cool as long as you're not putting Roundup on the lawn?

WARNING!

Did I need to provide this disclaimer?
As with all wild food foraging. It is up to each individual to research what it is they are considering to consume .
Things such as herbicides and pesticides may be detrimental to your health. Each person should also be aware of allergic reactions . Just because one person can safely consume something does not mean another person won’t be allergic.
The plants in my yard are probably safer to consume than what people are buying from Walmart.

And after drinking my tea both hot and iced. I have determined. Hot is the way to go. It is very nice. Like a Green tea.
And for one cup of tea you only need about 5 or 6 flowers.
I’ve consume half that batch I made yesterday with no Ill side affects.
YMMV

Honestly, some people do not know how much weed and feed type products mutate plants, which in turn can have detrimental affects on people and animals that consume it.

Another thing you can do with dandelions is collect the roots, roast, and then grind. Then use it like coffee grounds. It's more or less the same as ground and roasted chicory root, which has long been used as a coffee substitute.
