I have been takeing my grandson to the Darrington pit off 435th ave. Up past the electric substation every weekend. If it rains on a weekend or we miss a weekend I take him to shoot another weekend and we do a night in the woods and shoot the next day as well. We went yesterday and had a great time. We took a BBQ grill and cooked up some T-Bone steaks, cooked up some corn on the cob, had maccaronni salad, chips & coke on ice.
I took the chainsaw and got some wood for a camp fire. He got to shoot his 223 AR15, his Savage 22lr Rascle, two Ruger mark 11s 22lr, and the Browning 22lr lever action.
We were going to stay the night last night but about 11pm his NaNa wasn't feeling that well so we packed up and came home. She had a major heart attack at the end of January and has her ups & downs. So next planned over night she will follow us up there and head home before dark..

I thought the access road off of 530 to this pit was recently gated off by a timber company, has the road been opened up again?

Recently it was 50/50 if the gate is open or not. Going in from Sweede Haven Road is a sure access to the pit and a nice little ride.

@DoveRelease, what is the maximum range at this pit? I haven't used it before but was thinking about giving it a try tomorrow. Looks from the satellite photos like 50yd is about the max.
Thanks.

Close to 100 yards in the lower pit if you shoot from the right side to the left side. The top pit should be about 80 yards from the road to the back of the pit.
The 2nd pit up on the Saulk Road is close to 200 yards.

Thanks. I never did find it. C-Post Road was gated off as expected. I tried to go up 371st off of Swede Heaven and the road that looked like it would have taken me to the pits was also gated off. Tried the network of logging roads above that - no love. Several more gates and finally a tank-trapped semi-collapsed bridge. But, I had a nice country drive and found a fine spot for some safe, socially distanced pistol shooting and it was nice to be far, far away from everybody else. And it was better than driving all the way to my usual spot in Gray's Harbor.

What's the address for this? We need to go out there to try out the shockwave sometime to see which round my wife wants to keep in it for the home defense scenario. Thanks in advance!
