It's not cost effective to record all of the audio from any of these devices, and they don't use near the amount of bandwidth that this would require. The only thing they actively listen for is their "wake" word, and then a text version is sent to the Alexa backend for processing and returned. You can view a history of the requests made, which is pretty funny if you leave kids alone with the echo.
If you're worried about being recorded surreptitiously, then you also need to remove cell phones, webcams, laptops, most TVs manufactured within the last 5 years, and any PCs with speakers or headphones plugged in to them (or built in).

Just got it today. I asked alexa where to hide a body. It said the police dept. I also used it as an alarm clock, it used a phrase from a movie that was pretty funny. Wakey - Wakey!

I asked her this morning who is the 45th president? She said "Donald Trump", I said Alexa I love you. She said thank you it's nice to be appreciated.

I got an Echo Dot and am having a hellofatime trying to get connected to my computer. I've reset it. I've changed the guest settings on the router. I cannot get the damn thing recognized no matter what I do. Any one have any suggestions?

Use the Alexa phone app instead of your computer.

The dot's sound quality is not great. OK if it's just for your bedside. I would go with a full echo, so you can enjoy music more, if you can put it somewhere central in your house, kitchen seems to really work for most.
Including myself, everyone that I've talked to that got an echo, loves it way more than they thought they would.

After I saw one up close and had a demonstration, I was hooked. #1 I didn't buy it for the sound. If I decide later on I want to listen to more music, I have the world to pick from for bluetooth speakers in all price ranges and will still be way under the total price of an Echo.

I asked if she worked for the FBI, and she swore she only worked for Amazon.
