By the way, your collection is something short of spectacular. I hope you have them insured!
I use Collectibles Insurance, not a rider policy through homeowners. They allow you to pick the value and rate charge you based on that price of insured.

I got a Lyman rifle from the big brown truck today . . . hell, I didn't even know that Lyman made guns. Well, had the Italians make them would be more accurate.
This is a reproduction of a Remington 1863 Zouave rifle in .58 caliber. The back side (not shown in photo) has a few dings and scrapes, so I might make a refinishing project at some point. I also noticed that the hammer cocks just fine when the rifle is upright, but if you lean it to the left or right then the hammer won't lock back.
Hmmm. I'll get it apart, hopefully it's a simple fix.
What the hell, it was a good deal at $250 shipped.
This is a .36-caliber "duckfoot" or "ducksfoot" pistol. A .375" ball (typically used for .36 caliber revolvers) won't fit down the barrel, so I guess I need to find something smaller. My calipers tell me that the barrel diameter is right about 0.36".
A few years ago at SHOT Show, we met a very interesting character named Hovey Smith while at dinner one night. He kept us entertained with all kinds of stories, including some about his ducksfoot pistol. When we got home, i found some YouTube videos that he had made, including this one:
That was made from a 1970's Classic Arms kit (the pre finished ones had a smaller grip). I had the single barrel version kit, the New Orleans Ace. Bought it at Warshals when I was 15 for $27.....had to be 18 to buy the completed ones. http://possibleshop.com/pistol-classic-arms-kits.html

This is an Italian reproduction. I'm not sure who made it; Uberti made some, but based on what I'm seeing on the interwebs they are marked "Uberti" and they have a ladder rear sight. Mine isn't marked with a manufacturer (just "Made In Italy") and it has a folding rear sight.
