Mad, I use Magpul Technical Glove Lightweight Work Gloves (amazon) when using my Frankford Arsenal Platinum series case trimmer.
I can do about 500 each session at 60 years old without getting hand cramps.

Get out your pentagrams friends, it's time for thread necromancy.
MadPick, do you have extra cutting heads to cover your different diameters (one for everything .308", one for everything .224", one for .284" etc) or do you find that the one cutting head is easy enough to adjust when you change from one caliber to the next?
Do you adjust it when going from something .308" to a .310-.311"?
Mine shows up on Friday per the shipping notification (only a 3 month wait) and inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks!

Thanks! I cannot speak for cakeboi. But after using his trimmer I bought one and I do have a head set for each diameter. For me that is 308 and 223, but I also had/have one for 6.5 I think (not reloaded 6.5 in years to remember if still have it). I also use a locking die collar with setscrew so that I lock the nut to the case holder die once I have it set to the length I want the 1st time. When I swap caliber I just have to tighten snug and the length is pretty much dead on each time. At least more than close enough for what I shoot and how I shoot.

I like them so much...I bought 2 and leave them set up for 308 and 223. I do have several other collets and trimmer assemblies to make conversion easier.
I must confess however that I rarely change them. For smaller batches, I have several other trimmer types.
I am a reloading gear junkie for sure.

I am a reloading gear junkie for sure. I mean isn't it called WaGuns.org because shootingsportsgearwhores.net was too long? Thanks fellas. I'll give it a try with one but my guess is I'll wind up with a number of cutter heads. I am super excited about this. I trimmed and chamfered so much 7x64 and .30 by hand last year and I hate it. I haven't even engaged with .223 reloading yet, just farming brass because the thought of trimming the endless multitudes with a Lee quik-trim made me queasy.

I have three (I think?) cutting heads, but that doesn't cover all of my diameters so I do need to adjust them occasionally. It's not a huge deal, so I don't feel a need to buy one for EVERY diameter. However, if you do a lot of both .223 and .308 (for example), I think it's worth it to buy the extra cutter.
If I recall correctly (it's been a while since I did 300BO), I left it alone between .308 and .311.

My vote goes to WFT. Cheap and easy to use.

Got stuck working late last night but when I got home at 0300 it was waiting on the porch for me. Even though it was sooper late I couldn't help myself and zipped a couple dozen .30 cases through it. That machine really is all it's cracked up to be. Major deterrent to higher volume rifle reloading removed.
Now to get a few more case holders...

@MadPick have you ever used yours for .30 Carbine? Do you even bother to trim .30 Carbine?

Errr, I have everything to reload .30 Carbine, including the Giraud parts, but I've never actually done it . . . what little Carbine shooting I do, I've just kept using surplus ammo. :( The Giraud trimmer will work for .30 Carbine, but since there's no shoulder on the case, the normal way of controlling case depth cannot be used. Rather, they provide a Lee case holder that grabs the head of each case and rests against the Giraud case holder. I have it, but I've never used it.

Interesting, I wondered how they did that. I'm still in the brass farming stage with my carbine so not an immediate concern but I'll get there soon enough. I understand the M1 Junior headspaces on the case mouth so I imagine I'll have to start trimming some day.

Bringing this back up to the top. I just picked up at another trimmer in 300 blackout from Paris, great deal on a lightly used unit. With a little cleaning and adjusting it is set up for use. It will be a great addition and hopefully extend my years of reloading. Attachment: C12BD83C-2870-48B5-811E-5FD4CDEC17A9.jpeg Attachment: C03300BA-FD04-478B-86A9-3872347AEE5B.jpeg
