Still I have been to a shit ton of great places, amazing food, great entertainment, etc. It will be a good trip. NEVER rent a car while in Vegas. Cabs are as plentiful as cockroaches in a Chinese restaurant and you don't have to fart around trying to find parking. You can pay all the cab fares with just the amount you'd pay in tips for the valet parking. As for walking OUTSIDE any convention venue or hotel, forget it. You may look down the street and see the sign of he place you're going but the damn signs are so frigging large you don't realize that it might be one or two miles away. Another thing to watch out for. If sitting anywhere, make sure your stuff is under your control. My son was sitting in the lobby of a hotel and someone stole a briefcase with laptop from him. It was sitting at his feet and he had just looked away for a minute. There are frigging pick-pockets and thieves all over the place. I even had someone push in my hotel room door one evening. Sometimes they don't close and have the latch "click" so there are those who walk the halls just pushing on doors looking for a loose on.

Yeah, I am now a seasoned vet in Vegas and conventions there. I learned from a very nice hotel receptionist my first time that I should NOT try to walk to a casino just because I can see it. I took her advice.
The three times I have been there we drove down and back the first two and down the last time so we always had a car. Most of the places are free parking at the casinos because they figure if you're gonna park there you're going to go in. We never paid for parking any of the times we were there.
Cab rates are ridiculous down there. From the airport to the suite we stayed in last time they wanted $60 and it was only 5 miles. Sadly we will have to take a cab to al least one place. The food is SO good we may have to do it twice.
