So does anyone have any kind of armor incase SHTF.
If so what do you have. And what is it rated to stop.

Anything you would recommend. For around
$1000. How about closer to $500

I know a decent vest is on my to do list. But for what id like to have is close to $1200 but it will stop a .308 i think. Been awhile since i looked at them.

I have seen and hear that most armor decreases its effectiveness over time. And everything affects it. So what ever you find, make sure you know the life effectiveness of it and look to spend that amount(plus inflation) in repeated iterations. Like every 7-10 years.

I have some older IIIA stuff that I got for about $60. I wear it when I don't know who I'm dealing with or when I'm alone at a shooting place/pit. I had one of those moments where you know you have a keeper when I showed it to my GF and all she said was:
"Is it for when you're on a boat? Like if it sinks?"
"no... think more like a gunfight and want to come home safe..."
"Really? Where's mine?!?" and she actually checked the closet for one. lol

Thats some funny shit there oster.

Had no idea that armor had a shelf life. Thanks for that info.
That's gonna play a big role in what i get, if any now. Lot of coin to throw down for only 7 year life..

More ammo and supplies sounds better too me now..

Yeah, I also catch her humming either starwars tunes or indiana jones while cooking. She's pretty damn awesome.
"Can I help with any of the cooking?"
"No, all I have to do is stir at the moment. Why don't you go on the deck and enjoy a cigar."
"But you hate cigars and the smell"
"I know, but I know you like them so go"

I really can't complain.

On topic, I also didn't know of a shelf life, but I also didn't know you had to store them flat. It's all making me rethink picking up a newer one and taking better care of it.

Depends on what you are looking for. There are steel rifle plates on there for 80 a piece, but they are heavy as sin.

I bought my duty vest from them. I paid $499 for my vest and would have paid more. I dont know about you but I am willing to pay for something that is going to save my life.
