For those who maybe need some help getting started, or those with good bags already. the linked articles in the series may make you re-think your Bug out bag and what you have in it.
While not extensive and every person is going to have a slightly different list of needs I always find Jim good at hitting the highlights and offering some nuggets for consideration.

Enjoy: I have been reading them as they have come out so you can benefit from having them all in one place.

PS If you want to join the Facebook group he runs, there is a link in the article. He posts this and other stuff regularly.

There's a lot of good detail in that article and its links, thanks for posting it.

I actually got rid of our BOB last year and we instead now have 2 well-outfitted get-home bags, one in each primary vehicle. Either could see us safely out of town and on the road for several days (or more) if we needed to evacuate, but they're also small enough that I could carry either one if we had to hoof it.

If we had kids or parents living with us, that setup might not work as well and the addition of a dedicated BOB would make more sense.

I have a good car kit like you. Also have a bigger backpack at home for the BOB. The BOB tends to be the car kit writ a bit larger. Adds some tools, food, supplies that would be needed for a bit longer away time. The car kit is centered around the 3 days needed to get home. And the basics needed for that.

Good points.
