Henry's are polymer and steel.

My Bag has CZ Scorpion and a few spare mags. Shares ammo with edc weapon. My bag is more of a BHB (Bug Home Bag) though and not meant for anything more than getting me 10miles home.

This is my Bugout Rifle.....CZ Made Springfield M6 Scout Rifle .22/410.

This will shoot ANY . 22LR as well as .410 shells and folds up neatly in a small compact case.

We're bugging in. Glock 20 in the grab bag. Semi auto .308s around for quick deployment.

Same here. Mine is a Get Home Bag.

M6 looks like a nice option but the price is rather high.

Same goal for my kit. Only difference is to get home from work is 22-miles.

One of my older relatives has a GI M6 (a different kind of "take home rifle...."). It is and has been his truck gun for 50 years now. Still shoots well, used every year for grouse. Not a great gun for much else than a truck gun or BOB gun.

Another reason for me to get the CZ Scorpion. Did you get the pistol and SBR it or the carbine?

Ok, rethinking Henry AR-7.

Went to LGS and waited there for 20-minutes, once a rep was free I told them that I was there to put a down payment on an AR-7 (special order). I was told I needed to wait because a private party was doing a FTF transfer and the rep couldn't do two things at once. Needless to say I walked out after waiting another 10-minutes dissatisfied because of the poor customer service but I did rethink the whole situation.

22LR would be nice because I can carry lots of ammo to take down small game. What if I use a AR15 pistol lower I already have, install a 22LR Conversion Bolt and be able to use the same upper for 22LR and 223/5.56. This would give me the best of both worlds. Downside would be weight in carrying two types of ammo and mags.

Thoughts?

I've had numerous AR7's thru the years...none functioned reliably. Maybe the new ones are better, I'm not taking that gamble.

My "transport" weapon now is a takedown 10/22, threaded barrel, can, 2-10rd. mags, 6 BX25 mags, vintage 4x Leupold scope, quick release mount, GI Otis cleaning kit and 1,000 rds of ammo. All fits into the Ruger tote bag that comes with the rifle from Ruger. :thumbsup2:

I'm bugging in where my food and water is but if an evac is required, wife will have a 10/22 takedown and i'll take my shortest AR.

The new ones are better.

Also, it's a game getter not a combat weapon. What are the odds you are getting a fast followup shot on that bunny rabbit you just dusted? Accuracy is more important.

22 conversion for an AR pistol, very good idea. :thumbsup2:

If i feel like i have to "bug out" to survive, a .22 won't be on the top of my list personally. I realize running "light" might be a factor, but depending on what you are running from, you may need more firepower.

Frankly, short of an outbreak of Zombies with Bubonic plague, i'm bugging IN personally.

If there was really a situation where everyone is trying to run from something, how far do you think you would get during mass chaos?

You really think the Governments going to tell you the Nukes hit in 20 minutes? Or the super colossal West coast Earthquake is coming in 2 hours?

Honestly guys, what are you potentially "Bugging out" from? I just don't see the scenerio where that's a course of action personally.
