This...he hasn't been back on since the day he posted the question. yeah go figure, I think if you need to ask what gun? I'd recommend a shooters safety course then go shooting. Edit: as for what to carry in a BOB a reliable 9mm battle proven design, I carry a Lionheart 9 because it's already run over 10,000 rnds trouble free. Like the DA/SA and safety.

My vote goes to a Smith and Wesson 686 Plus with a 2-ish inch barrel. You'll be able to use .38 Special or .357 magnum and the SW Plus gives you 7 rounds, as opposed to 6 rounds. It's much simpler than a Glock 19 or any other auto-loading pistol and more reliable, too. That being said, if you're interested in an auto-loader, I'd recommend something with a double/single action trigger system to reduce your chances of a negligent discharge. I'm a fan of HK guns (NOT the VP9), Sig Sauer P229, Beretta PX4 Storm and CZ-P07 or CZ P-01. I thing Glocks are fine pistols, just maybe not as good as some people or forums might suggest.

Yeah he should have bought that gun sooner I suppose.....:o Maybe I'm getting old and grumpy but "Which gun should I buy" threads are usually useless crap after 2-3 posts. Especially this one.
