Of course this assumes you will even have a working internet or phone during a real emergency.

History has taught us that the only reliable source of communication is that which you can operate yourself without having to rely on commercial intermediaries. I guess what I'm saying is this is all nice information to have but in a real emergency/disaster/SHTF, that goofy Ham Radio operator will be the only reliable means of communication.

Even today they've been the backbone of Emergency Communications when the regular systems fail.

5 quakes in under a day off the coast of Oregon..

And these quakes have been around the 6 to 9 mile depth mark. Haiti and a lot of the other killer quakes are around that depth. I have been watching this stuff for around 20 years. The old USGS quake maps had better resolution than the new ones.

Got food and water? Go bag in trunk of all cars? Slippers or shoes and flashlight near all beds? You can ask this a thousand times and I would bet 90% have nothing at all. Darwin awaits.

Not mine. Stress is just fine. I have watched that area for many years and have always thought that fault line back at the cascadia end is where the zipper effect will start on cascadia. They (USGS) say it means nothing.
