I used to when I was a kid. had a line attached to me in case I threw it. remember using it off a dock for minnows. I'd have to ask my dad where its at or if it's boxed up.

Remember these? Ronco Pocket Fisherman.

You can still get them on Amazon. At least when you cast it won't fly out of your hand.

Should be able to take heavier line. The commercial showed a guy picking up a bike.

I have a couple of those micro bait casting poles. I keep one set up in the boat for when Dad and I are still fishing so I can quickly drop a line in when I am changing up my spinning equipment. The spinning version that you can get from Amazon is much better. I carry the spinning version as a spare when fishing certain areas. I actually have used my spinning version several times when fishing small mountain lakes from a kyak. It beats not fishing because you snarled your line on your main pole. The last time I used my micro spinning rig I did get hits.

Sorry in advance
But if you can’t put line on a reel
Fishing ain’t your game
