Thinking about getting some more gold. I found 1/10 oz gold coins on sale for $129. Gold is currently $1245 which puts it less than 4% over spot. Also on the prepper side 1/10 oz coins are easier to make change so to speak compared to my 1 oz double eagle $20 coins.

Melting point of gold is a little too high for casting boolits.

1/10 oz is a hair under 44 grains. Sectional density would be intense, but the BC would be lower than lead for the same weight pill due to the foreshortening.

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

If you own a decently well rounded portfolio, you should hold some real assets and some precious metal ETFs.

This is interesting to follow: http://www.gata.org/

Stick with ebay for buying. The lowest price from the top 5 companies will almost always beat anything else, local or otherwise. If that price doesn't beat it's an exception and this should be jumped on.

The coin shop at the WSCC comes with a history lesson when you ask about old currency they have for sale.

I am new here, was pleased to see this section.
I never have gotten into gold, but have always thought silver is shiny enough that in a 'situation' that silver dollars and below will be useful.

For expanding your portfolio, I think gold or platinum is good to have, but I like silver.
But then lead isn't a bad investment either ;)

Not a lot of chat here or lately on the TOS (the other site, seattleguns.net) about silver. We had a bit of an arbitrary line at $15/oz. Those of us who saw that as a buying opportunity backed up the truck. But who knows, $16 or so could be the new line now. Not many real Ag holders sold above $20, as it definitely is a bit of a hassle. That is where an ETF shines.
