Since it's 18 months old, I really need to update. I've noticed there are some hollow roll pin, external extractor SIGs coming off the line, need to check out which models specifically. Also, the new 227, 320, and some additional versions of existing pistols. I may even add all those 1911s!

Thanks.

Any info on what magazines work in a p226 Black Water Tac. My 15 rounders from my 229 don't lock in. Any info would be appreciated.

229 mags are probably too short. That family of mags should fit 229s and 228s only.

Dang I did this guide way back in 2012. I know now that SIG has started to use roll pin slides again which makes it that much harder to tell what you have. Plus the explosion of different X and Fusion models. And more plastic frame guns. icon_eek

Yes I found 229's to be too short to lock in.
Thanks for the reply.

Psst, The p220 I have, the finest handgun on earth, holds 7 if you use 1911 mags, 8 or 10 if you use factory Sig mags.

How in the heck are you getting 1911 mags to work in a P220?

You stickem in, pull the slide, and fire away. The bolt will not lock back unless you cut the slot in the 1911 mag.

This I will have to try.

I spotted a P220 in the middle 70's in 30 luger, assuming it was European model, heel plate magazine release.

Haven’t seen much action on this thread in a while.

The original P220s came mostly in 9mm with some .30 Luger and .38 Supers. Heel mag release, very European.

I really need to update this though. SIG obviously has a ton of new models. They also started using roll pins again which makes the easy ID of older guns not as straightforward.

Updated first post. I eliminated the detailed lists of all of the variants as it requires too much upkeep.

Now to do a S&W revolver sticky!
