I'm new to reloading for 10mm and was curious what a good slower burning powder option would be to take advantage of the extra barrel length on the Glock 40? Thanks!

Was that your freedom purchase? I’ll look at my data tonight and see what I was using.

I prefer Blue Dot in my 10mm. It gives consistent high velocity and accuracy.

Is that a slow enough burning powder that I will be able to take advantage of the longer barrel on this pistol and get a little boost in velocity vs standard barrel length? 6.02" barrel (G40) vs. 4.61" barrel (G20)

I settled on that one for my long slide 10mm long before there was a G40, we called it a G20L back then. Blue Dot does pretty well too, but with a lot of flash and it doesn't meter very well. LongShot is good too, and is just a small step down from AA9. I like AA7 for mid-weight bullets.

I'm surprised that more aren't recommending Power Pistol (Alliant). I find it to be a super good powder for my 9mm although many I know use it in 45acp and 10mm. Not expensive and it meters like a dream in a progressive press. Fills cases well so less chance of a double charge that can happen with powders that don't fill the case over half of it's usable capacity. i'd take an "overflow" any day over a Ka-Boom.

Power Pistol works well for medium-light 10mm bullets and hot loads, but is a little on the fast (burning rate) side for heavy bullets. It also makes a LOT of flash, like Blue Dot.
None of the powders mentioned here lend themselves to easily double charging in full power 10mm loads. AA9 is impossible to double charge, since it reaches maximum pressure in most heavy bullet 10mm loads at 100% case fill.

AA#9, Blue Dot, Longshot all work well in my 20L (Basically the same as your 40) and my 10.5" SBR. In the rifle I exceed max. I have tried a couple just a grain or two over max in the Glock, but I get a little worried (no signs of over pressure though). The AR has a fully supported thick wall chamber, so I do exceed max, but even then no obvious signs of over pressure. YMMV.

Since - well I hope - people will check books and manufacturers and not just believe a gun forum. Unique maybe ok for light loads, in fact some on 10 dot com guys use Unique for plinking - but too fast, especially W231 cannot recommend and certainly has nothing to do with the request in this thread.
