Anybody using the FTX bullets? Opinions?
My favorite bullet appears discontinued so now I have to develop a new load. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of choices out there in the .500 market, and not particularly interested in stocking up in Barnes solid copper bullets at $1.50 apiece for weekly paper and milk jug killing.

Just curious . . . why not use cheaper lead bullets if you're just plinking?

I know you can cast your own, but I've bought a couple of these designs: https://www.mattsbullets.com/index.php? ... x&cPath=66

I prefer to develop a load that performs great and practice with what I'm going to use. When you get real deep in the firearms collecting game and make 90% of your own ammo, cost is really not a factor. Performance is.
As far as the lead bullets, I have a couple molds and have made several boxes of my own but they are more of a just-in-case-i-cant-get-bullets situation. In 500 mag anyway. I cast many calibers and if I want to just throw lead for plinking I can choose 38 or 44.
IMO the 500 is not for reduced load relaxed fun. That one is for pushing range, accuracy, and the challenge. And when it comes time to defend myself or hunt with it I'd like to have well performing bullets as well as be very proficient at using them.
