AA 1680 was the game changer for me. I am convinced that IMR4227 doesn't work for subs. I had to take it to 12gr+ before it fully cycled, at which point it was pushing 1200fps. I tried a bunch of stuff to fix the gun when it was the ammo all along.

I still think the game would be easier with that flat wire spring

Are RIFLE springs (a real thing, longer more coils) and pistol springs (not a thing, really - most are carbine springs, shorter less coils) the same? They CAN be different yes. Number of coils and length. I've seen some real shit springs come in some buttstock kits. I don't want all the guys to rip off my head and jump down my neck - so I'm not saying your primary problem is your spring. Quote: Use the latest AR style buffer spring released by David Tubb in your 300 AAC Blackout or 300 Whisper. Using the latest technology and techniques in spring winding David Tubb had created a lighter weight buffer spring designed for those running platforms with lighter pressures. Be absolutely confident that your 300 Blackout or Whisper will function consistently every time with our new lightweight buffer spring. Take advantage in knowing that no matter what the conditions, your AR will cycle and feed providing you with a lifetime of worry and maintenance free operation. http://www.davidtubb.com/tubb-springs/ar15-buffer-spring-stainlessAll I know is I found this spring when I was trying to get my undergassed 10mm AR to work. It was well worth the $25 as my soft stroke problems ended when I slicked up my BCG and installed this spring. I was so happy I put the regular ones in my 5.56 and 6.8. I wasn't having problems but those springs have cycled many years of shooting and were due.

Last I heard, you tried 9.3 grains with the original spring and it wasn't cycling. Did you try higher charges with the original spring too? Do you know if the spring is helping it cycle better, or did you swap the spring at the same time you went to higher charges? And what velocity are you getting with 10.5 grains?

I just ordered the springs, so I don't have them yet. I had a couple of slips of paper in my ammo box to indicate the grains, but they shifted in transport so I don't have an accurate read. BTW I shot the diffusers on my chrony just for you.

I have a couple + pounds of 1680 but I have switched to using IMR 4227 (190 gr 10.2 of 4227) with good results out of an 8.2" & an 8.5" barrel suppressed and non-suppressed. 1044-1083 fps. If you want to try the 1680 I would trade for some 4227.
