I've never bought Lemi Shine. I'm looking online and see it comes in a multitude of options http://lemishine.com/system/. I'm guessing it's either the: dishwasher detergent, detergent booster, or Shine & Dry Rinse. Which one are you talking about.

Thanks! That site even had a $1 off coupon. Hopefully the store won't be sold like it was the first 3 times I looked for the Armor All wash and wax, but at least I know what I'm looking for now.

I hear rumors of Lemishine in the stores, but I never saw it. The closest I found was the liquid stuff at Walmart, which is apparently not the right product.
I bought mine from Amazon.

Stainless Tumbling Media carries LemiShine Original (dishwashing detergent additive). It's a granular formula. That's what I've always used.

I loaded 100 rounds with CCI 400 small rifle primers, 40-grain V-max bullets, and 6.2 grains of True Blue powder. This is a well-known recipe to duplicate the SS197 factory ammo. EDIT: Do not use this data!! See post below. I loaded up two mags, and went shooting today . . . and brought 96 rounds home. The rounds felt fairly slippery, and loaded into the mags just fine. I fired four rounds, and every one of them failed to extract; the extractor slipped off every one of them. The first round had the primer completely blown out; the others had the primer partially backed out. The case wasn't stuck in the chamber; I was able to pull it out with my fingers. Factory ammo fired just fine.... Maybe I just need a stronger extractor spring.

But how did it fire in your Five-Seven pistol? Oh wait, you don't have one? Well, now you have a reason to buy one... 96 ROUNDS!

In the picture you posted earlier the reloaded cartridges looked a little strange. Is there a flare at the case mouth? Or is it just an illusion. Are the bullets seated out as far as they can be so the COAL's are even (if they aren't already)? Sticky cases on extraction are a major sign of too much pressure. Maybe you should turn the wick down a little. As for laquer finish, if anything it's been noted for causing cases to stick as it "melts" in the chamber under firing heat. Re-work your load, starting a lot lower and you should be golden.

Re-work your load, starting a lot lower and you should be golden. Well, my friend . . . this is the second time I have typed this reply. The first one started off something like this: "I know you know your stuff, but I'm familiar with this load. I loaded this with 6.2 grains of powder, which is a normal charge. I have tested this load with charges ranging up to . . ." and at that point I went off to look at my records to see how high I've taken it. Back story (read: excuse): When I loaded these rounds, my computer was in the middle of an hours-long installation of Windows 10. I wasn't able to get to my reloading data, but I was confident of the charge so I loaded from memory. Well, I fucked up. Badly. The charge was supposed to be 5.2 grains, not 6.2. I have tested it up to 5.6 grains in the past, but I haven't taken it this high. Ok, so the experiment is still on. Back to the loading bench . . . with data in hand, this time.

Llooks pretty good.
My personal experiences has been (mostly) bad with Lemishine.
If any of you get pinkish brass, I would suggest that the Lemishine is left out of the tumbler.
I can't tell the difference, with or without it. Except that without it, no more pinkish brass.
Yah, that's a very dazzling awesome picture of brass. It better be after 18 hours of being beat up by stainless steel media.
How's that Win 10 coming along? Hearing all sorts of stories.

Are the bullets seated out as far as they can be so the COAL's are even (if they aren't already)? Oops, I forgot to respond to this comment. No, there's no flare on the case mouth. However, these are pulled bullets and they're a little dented up from the pulling process so there are some gaps where the case mouth meets the bullet. And yes, the COALs are pretty consistent, and set as long as I can to still fit in the magazine (1.58"). danoh wrote: How's that Win 10 coming along? Hearing all sorts of stories. Once my slow laptop finally got it installed, it's been okay. There's going to be a little bit of learning curve for me, I'm still struggling with a few things. But I'll get there.

Steve, Good on you for owning a simple and honest mistake. Really glad you and your gun were not injured. I keep a log of all my load on PC as well, actually stored on cloud so I can access with smartphone, tablet or PC.. But who knows when SHTF and that is gone. Got me thinking it is a good idea to have old fashioned paper copy as well...
