I am getting ready build a new gun bench and I want to put a press on it. I am going to run a 550 and would like some input as to what you guys like more .... A standing bench or sitting bench?
Thanks for your input.

My reloading setups have always been for sitting; I just put an armless chair in front of the press.

I spend a lot of time there some days . . . not sure I'd way to stand for that long . . . .

Funny, I'm totally opposite.
I have a stool and a cushioned mat and I prefer to stand!

Bar stool height.

Not too low to stand, but you could sit if you wanted to.

Just built this one and started using it at the beginning of the year. It's tall enough to stand at and short enough to sit at with a tall office chair. Still getting things situated as I work. Love it so far though. I have a big metal cabinet that I got at a garage sale to keep my brass I'm not currently working with organized on.

Mine is made for standing, but I can sit with a tall chair, like a bar stool.

And . . . regardless of whether you sit, stand or lie prone while reloading, the most important thing in a reloading bench is that it be solid. I don't just mean solid, either -- I mean park your truck on it, slam into it with an NFL linebacker FUCKING SOLID.

Think bedrock. If in doubt, add another 4x4.

The less that it flexes under the load of priming or sizing brass, the easier your reloading will be, and the better your primers will seat, and the happier you will be. :thumbsup2:

+1. I bought some thick steel and bolted that on to the bench and bolted the press to the metal and bench adding some rigidity.. thicker is better
