cootduster +1 on the BlueDot, thats my go to in nearly all magnum revolver calibers. Should perform even better out of a rifle length bbl.

I have loaded many different powders in the 357. H-110 has been my favorite, followed closely by Blue Dot. They can both deliver in the higher velocity loads. The H-110 has less flash, burns cleaner and was more accurate for me. Personally I like a true MAGNUM load, not for the weak or the faint hearted, you load a 110gr. @2.000fps you need ear plugs and muff's gloves and your hand will still sting. And I recommend using these loads only in a Ruger or stronger action, if you can find one.....

+1 for IMR 4227. I run 15.5 grains behind a 158 grain JHP for my .357 loads. Not as flashy as H110, but a nice load IMO.

I just tested some loaded with Accurate #5 the other day and it seemed to work well. I was shooting plated bullets at a fairly low velocity though. The factory loads I tried afterward were much stronger.

I like 296 as a first choice for full Magnum loads with 2400 and 4227 as acceptable substitutes if 296 is not available.
For mid-range down to mouse fart target/plinking loads, I find Unique very flexible as regards load variations and the flakes seem pretty insensitive to use in a partially filled case. Some folks think it's 'dirty' but my revolvers clean up fine with a little CLP and elbow grease...
