Guys, I have been interested in creating a platform for some time, but know very little about AR-15s. I have watched a youtube video or two, and have read a thing or two about 80% kits, but realistically I know very little. For someone who is new to the gun, do you think this particular 80% kit is a good investment? The idea is that I will only build one AR-15, so I'd like it to be versatile. All of the features listed sound great, but again, I don't really know. This may not really be the best place for this question, but if you could drop a little knowledge or point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated. Also: Is this group buy still forming?

Awaiting quote... we'll see
But $50 seems pretty reasonable.

It seems this hasn't gone anywhere, but if it's still alive I'd be down for a Forged, maybe two.

Can someone explain - shouldn't unfinished receivers be a lot cheaper than finished? Why would you pay so much more than the one that's already done? E.g. AIM (and pretty much everyone else) has finished receivers for < $80 now...

First, I like building things and this is a good way to get one level deeper into the ar build process. Second, no serial numbers. They can't take what they don't know you have.

First, I like building things and this is a good way to get one level deeper into the ar build process. Second, no serial numbers. They can't take what they don't know you have. No serial numbers also means not transferable. You will not be able to sell (or even give it away). As far as "taking" something that they don't know - we don't have a registry of guns in WA, and once the gun leaves the FFL system it can be freely resold on civilian market, so there really no way to recover it. And if the government were to restrict a particular gun type, they would simply make the ownership illegal, serial or no. Do you know many people hiding unregistered machineguns? Probably not. It is and would be the same with any type of restricted firearm, and if you plan to defeat the law by simply evading it, think next time when you say anything about keeping guns away from "law abiding citizens" :-).

Okay just got a quote from WMA for 10 of the 7075 anodized... Cost is $264 including tax ($240 + $24 +/-). If you are serious... the lead time for these is 30 days. So figure about 2 months. 0-1 month to get 10 folks to commit and then 30 days for WMA to get set up and order them, etc. So here it begins. If you are totally serious. Send paypal to me and I'll get it rolling. Funds will be refunded if this does not go... or if you back out (once we have 10 and have a date... all funds are locked in). I don't know if 10 will join in but I'll begin... I'm down for 1 - 9 to go! PS sorry I'll make a new thread on going this route...
