Ok people as you well know greenwater continues to be a mess no matter how much we seem to clean and the forest service would like us to do a once a month clean but we just don't have the man power to do so; so we told them we'll try every other month during the spring/summer season and see how that works out until some order is established. I believe if we can get this area to run smoothly it may pave the way for more shooting areas to open up elsewhere so lets have a good turnout/show of support to keep this place open.
As usual it will be the same two places. FS 70 pit 47°07'00.7"N 121°35'11.4"W and the forest clearing 7013 47.116873,-121.586499 The meet time will be at 10am at the 70 pit. After the 70 pit is cleaned we'll move onto the forest clearing to clean and shoot. Hopefully it won't be too trashed so we can get to the shooting faster.
Bring rakes, wheel barrels, gloves, etc. The forest service will provide trash bags and a few of the other items as well and so will i. I'd suggest an EZ-up, hats and sunscreen and lots of water. Also remember to sign the volunteer sign-in sheet this will help to the forest service get grants/more money to continue to keep this area open and cleaned up. The more money they have the more likely they will open future spots.

Here's a link to the meeting place at the forest clearing: https://goo.gl/maps/sP1CYVsFgn62I expect that we'll clean for a couple of hours, and then get to shooting! So come prepared with some toys.

Can we clean the pit first and then the clearing? The pit is too choked off, I hate that place. I would never go to either one except for the cleanups.
Yeah, I will be there, but that's my preference for the shoot after.

Depending on how many people plan to show i'll bring more steel to shoot and yes anyone can shoot them as long as the proper ammo/caliber is used and help set it up. I've got pretty good at fixing my shot up target stands.

Is it too early to start talking about food? I'll be coming in from out-of-town about 7am that day but I'll go...

As usual, tentatively wholly dependent upon riding weather, with at least two of us and maybe a third. While highly doubtful I'll shoot, I'll clean and maybe eat! Or, just clean then ride over the hill to Whistling Jack's for a late lunch, snow should be gone enough to make it over the mountains by then.
Talking to DOT guys at Cayuse Friday, 28' of snow at top of Chinook pass and probably not open until mid June.

Went and checked out green water's current state of trash this past monday (5-23-17). The 70 pit was a bit trashed for only being two weeks after cleanup. Looks as if someone brought a whole case of water and just shot em up. Some were still full never opened. All in all not really that bad for now... The forest clearing was hard to tell but it looked better than the pit. I'm in agreement with usrifle on having the cleanup at the 70 pit first then group shoot at the forest clearing. More room to park if we get a good turnout and there is a bit of shade to hang out in. Going to ok this first with the forest service first then i'll update the OP so there is no mix-up.

Ummm yeah that was good o'l tannerite. Something i need to mention to the forest service. There are no signs in that area saying no exploding targets.

Is that residue on the ground? Or did you catch the smoke just after it exploded?
I've never seen anything like that associated with Tannerite....

I've never seen anything like that associated with Tannerite.... That's smoke in the air, those people to the left were pretty stupid. Shot it 10 yards away, setting up targets while others were shooting, etc

Anybody hear any truth to that post about some folks getting robbed at Greenwater?

I haven't heard of anything lately and vaguely remember what you're talking about but i do remember a while back someone spray painted on the barriers at the 70 pit beware of the couple in the red pick-up or something to that effect and a half licence # Is this post you speak of current, link to post?
