This year's Washington Sportsman's Caucus and Legislative Shootout will be held, as always, at Evergreen Sportsman's Club in Littlerock, WA. The date is March 14th, starting at 11AM. This event is under new leadership this year as Senator Fortunato has taken over as the WA Sportsman's Caucus Chairman.

We are looking for a few good men and women to assist those of us who volunteer our time to ensure that our state legislators have a great time learning about and participating in our sport/hobby/community. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the benefit of all sporting categories in WA state.

There will be representatives from all kinds of sporting groups such as fisherman, hunters, shooters, gun clubs and many more. There will be many first time shooters who are curious about our community. We are seeking volunteers to assist with the shooting events. There will be a competition between all legislators and their aids who are able to attend.

They compete in .22LR Rifle and Pistol, then take a turn on the trap line. Scores for each category are recorded and a winner is chosen for each. There will also be a few benches set up with an assortment of weapons for the legislators to try out, (graciously provided by I-5 Guns) some will be outfitted with suppressors. The Mima Marauders, http://mimamarauders.com/ will also be setting up a Cowboy Action Shooting demonstration this year.

We are asking for volunteers to assist with this competition by manning the scoring tables, setting up and taking down the target pulley system, assisting the Mima Marauders set up and take down, educating the legislators about our sport, answering their questions and many other duties as needed. If you are a certified Range Safety Officer, or certified NRA instructor, we can especially use your help on the firing line. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 10:00am. I'm sure I have not covered everything so if you have questions or are interested in participating, please reply to this thread and/or shoot me a PM. We hope to see you there.

Damn, it's got to be on a day I'm working. I will see if I can swap with someone. Next year post it up a month + out so people can work it into their schedule.

With the new chairman taking over the caucus this year, we had to be sure everything was lining up before I could make the formal announcement. Hopefully you can get someone to change shifts with you Chuck. Even if for only half the day, any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dan! Anyone else interested in volunteering for this unique event? Even just a couple hours would be super helpful.

I-594 doesn't apply. This is a sanctioned event at a public range.

OK, I got the shift swap so I'll be there. I'll bring the BO, and Mr Thompson. Anything else I can bring?

Who sanctioned it? Could you send me an official Govt. document? Are all the weapons kept at the range? (NO). Clear violation of 594, unless I-5 wants to come out, and do the BGCs. :bonghit:

I wanted give a big shout out and thank you to all the volunteers who helped out for this years very successful event. The WA State Sportsman's Caucus was extremely thankful to all of those who helped out. MassiveDesign, Golddigger14 and Brad from Brad's Guns are the WaGunners who come to mind. I know there are more but the screen names are eluding me. Woot!
