Sounds like a shitshow. How much airtime wound up for for/against?

Any mention of the Burlington Mall killer killing 5 people with a 10/22 varmint style rifle?

Under this bill even the 10/22 would be classified an "Assault Rifle".

The feel goodness arguments were nerve wracking. One lady droned on in support of 1122 because her uncle was wheelchair bound due to an accidental shooting....and died in a house fire when his electric blanket caught on fire. I was in the "overflow" room and a lot of people in there grumbled out loud over her sob story.

Wait, oh jesus, now they're going to ban electric blankets.... :reaction:

For future hearings, there is a parking garage nearby. For this hearing there was plenty of parking but no space in the room; people were moved to the overflow.

I know I was grumbling. Me and another guy had been quietly discussing the last speaker when that lady started speaking, so we caught that whole thing halfway through, and were completely lost for a few moments.

Depends on the model. As long as it doesn't have a pistol grip, thumbhole stock, folding or telescoping stock, foregrip, threaded barrel (or fixed flash suppressor/muzzle "break"/compensator), or grenade launcher it doesn't count as an "Assault Weapon". Looks like a lot of the basic models still come without threaded barrels so they'd be fine.

This is exactly why this bill is so stupid. Like a pistol grip or threaded barrel makes a gun considerably more dangerous.

On another note i did shoot off an email to my representatives voicing my concerns. 1,000 word limit was a bit rough though. BUT I did get a rather nice reply from Sen. Jan Angel. Basically said she would be watching this bill to see if it made it to the Senate and if it did would voice the same concerns i pointed out and would be voting no on it. Even included a bit of a personalized message in reminding me that even though there was minimal snow on the roads in Port Orchard to watch for the ice :)

All three of my Reps, in both houses, are Red Republicans. They assured me that this will get a no vote from them. Now, the task is to gather the votes in our favor, and get a couple dems to come to our side of common sense and not the side of tear-jerkerism politics

I heard that someone said Cabelas sold an "Assault rifle" to a 17 yo. :facepalm2: For those of you that complain about how long it takes to get a gun there can attest that a minimum of three people check your ID.

If you need ammo for your Ferguson complaints, he begins speaking at 45:50 and speaks for two minutes.

I received a nice response from one of my representatives that said he was going to be voting no too. I commented on a lot of bills and wrote numerous e-mails and he was the only one to respond. A few went to Jay Insleee so I wasn't surprised there.

I think you are forgetting the "ability to accept a detachable magazine", no?

NO 10/22 for YOU!!! :shush:
