If you followed the mainline up, instead of turning into the pit, there is hundreds of miles of roads up there. Some being logged, some quiet as can be. Or, head east a bit farther on Hwy 20 and hit Rasar St Park, or all the way to Baker or Gandy lake campgrounds.

I thought that when looking at Bing maps, the land had to be green in order for it to be forest service land and legal to just go camp/shoot on: https://binged.it/2coznoz

Not sure on specifics, but friends or even I camped up there in High school. You could always pitch a tent in the parking area for the cowboy camp. That is public, and open to camping, people do all the time.

It's looking like its gonna be a wet one. Bring EZ up canopies and or tarps, rain jackets, hats, etc.
even going all the way up there in the rain, it will still be better than hanging out at my house with my mother-in-law visiting.... I'm in!

Looks like Rita and I can make it. We can make our New Year's standard curry if you guys would like that, or maybe something like potato salad or Cole slaw? We've also got an easy up and a generator if those would be handy.

Didnt plan on bringing either of my generators, couldn't figure out a need for them. Maybe someone else can though.
