Everyone that's done one of these matches had never done it before they did it. All beginners at one point. As long as you're safe and follow instructions you're welcome to participate. Oh, and ya gotta be safe too.

But of course. Safety is paramount.

Looking into things I won't be able to make it out this time. I'll definitely try to catch the next one though.

Sling type is purely personal preference. I like single point on short barrel rifles, and two point on 16+ inch lengths.

No sling, at least at the ones I've been at, would be tough as there was no place to set your AR down when you transitioned to handgun. I guess you could just hold it in your off had and shoot the handgun unsupported.
That's exactly what I did with my 300 BO pistol.

So, myself and a buddy are definitely going to participate. Do we need to pre-register or sign up beforehand? Do we just show up at 2:00pm?

I'm a RF&GC member, but not LEO or military. My buddy is active military.

No need to pre-register. Come out & help set up at 2 pm and take time to ask all the questions you want.
Match starts at 4.

BRING WATER & STAY HYDRATED!

As long as it fires ammunition and you've got lots of it, that's all you should be concerned about.

Was a great time wasn't it!? Good to meet you both and look forward to you, and more, showing up for the next one!

I missed this event -- when is the next one?

And are there are restrictions (i.e. steel core) on the type of rifle ammo that can be used? Thanks.

Anyone coming out today? So far doesn't look good, just me and the guy running it.

Ric

Had a pretty good turnout, considering the rain (it was a downpour during both of my runs!) Was a good time as always.

It was fun, even in the rain. I'll definitely be going again.

I would've come out, but I was sweating balls on the Yucatán Peninsula.
