Ok the date has been set for May 21 sat,9am at the forest clearing(fs-7013) Location 47°07'01.1"N 121°35'11.4"W. If we have a good turn out like we did in oct we'll branch out to the upper and lower pits for cleanups at all three locations at the same time. There will be a dumpster on site most likely at the lower pit with trash bags supplied. Remember to bring rakes, shovels, gloves, magnets, buckets, what ever will make the cleanup faster and easier so we can get to the shooting part of this event. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us if not bring an easy-up and a rain coat. If you have any suggestions on how to make this cleanup go faster or different tools to use then post them here. Spread the word and lets make this a big turn out like last time.

I found this on sale to aid in saving our backs at the clean and shoot http://www.harborfreight.com/36-inch-pickup-and-reach-tool-94870.html Not high quality but should work for what we due.

This cleanup is a result of our meeting with the Forest Service, described in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=60&t=67434

I've added this to the WaGuns Community Calendar.

We had a great turnout at the Greenwater cleanup that we did last year, and I think it really made a difference not just in the short term (getting it clean) but also in the long term (getting people to KEEP it clean). Let's hit it again, and get it back into shape, and try to get folks to be more responsible when shooting out there.

It doesn't take much to help with this: Grab a pair of gloves, and come out. Trash bags will be supplied.

Oh, one more thing....

Bring your guns. After we're done cleaning: :AR15firing:

I'll be honest . . . I really hate to hear stuff like that.

There are two WAC weekends a month, plus a million other excuses if someone doesn't want to make this a priority. Put it all together, and we'd NEVER do a cleanup or any other activity if we worried about every potential conflict.

I think the wac show has to be the worst excuse ever not to show up. Haven't went to one of those in years ever since the vendors tried to rip every one off after sandyhook. Oh and i just bought 5 of those pickup tools for the clean up for people to try. I think they'll work out good.

I'm in. My son and I brought a wheelbarrow back in October and it was in constant use. Of course, we were working at the pit where we could wheelbarrow right into the dumpster, until it got so full that we had to close the end of it. I still used it to bring full trash bags in from downrange. I had plenty of extra shovels and rakes for people to use. I also brought a big icechest full of ice and bottled water. I've never seen $12 worth of Kirkland water appreciated so much.

The most important item to bring is strong backs, and lots of them. The rangers that I talked to were beyond impressed with the turnout last time. They take great pride in their "workplace," and it's refreshing to them when other people take an interest in improving it as well.

I have free access to many 5gal buckets if we can find a use for them. I was thinking using those for steel case and shot shells so the garbage bags won't get weighed down so fast. Any other ideas for them?

That is a great idea! Perfect for the small stuff and easy to carry. :thumbsup2:
Anybody got one of those big floor sweeper magnets?

Yeah i got one of those as well. I'll bring it and a wrench for height adjustment.

I also made a custom magnet stick out of thesehttp://www.amazon.com/CMS-Magnetics-Neodymium-Magnets-2-Inch/dp/B000UUCI6Y?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00 for shots shells. Just stuck them in 3/4 inch conduit.

to keep people from shooting up there. Its been several yrs since I've been there for trail riding but I would say a good 10 truck loads with pups or more randomly dumped like poka dots. It would prevent anyone from trying to shoot even 30ft. since you can not get a longer shot that would prevent someone or something from getting shot down on the lower pit.
