Good times today, folks. THANK YOU! thumbsup

Let me see, here are the folks I saw . . . and no doubt I'll forget someone, so let me know:

Me
Massivedesign
Dicks McGhee & girlfriend
MADrtcw
fajitamondays
Sigman and son
thegorilla
ironworker78 (I didn't get a chance to say hi, sorry!)
Rutilate
Woody
san
And . . . the guy who was with Kristin . . . I don't remember your username, sorry. :frust:

Everyone did a GREAT job cleaning up both the FS-7013 clearcut area and the "lower pit"; I tell ya, you could eat off the ground at those two places by the time that everyone was done. :thumbsup2:

A few of us took a driving tour of a number of shooting areas along with one of the Forest Service rangers and a local resident who is very familiar with the forest. It was eye-opening to see all of the areas where people shoot; some of the areas are GREAT spots to shoot and are very safe. And . . . many of them are not. There is a lot of opportunity for improvement in educating folks that are headed out there to shoot, in order to keep everyone safe. We have work to do.

Thanks to everyone who came out today!

Great turnout and a great day! As Steve mentioned, the tour was very eye-opening. We saw quite a few unsafe, but active shooting areas, and a few very nice private shooting areas (no, I am not updating the map).

The upper PIT needs to be re-configured so the lower pit doesn't get barraged with volley fire, and I think we have a way to make that happen. Also, there is a serious issue with the 7013 clearcut area, and that is people shooting into the treeline to the SW. There is NO BACKSTOP there, and if you shoot at the trees a little higher up the hill, you are pointing directly at the residential community over the hill. I had a great conversation with Ranger Martie and I think we have come up with a nice way to make a parking area at 7013 as well as keep fire directed at the earthen berm.

Something for everybody to remember when shooting (not just at Greenwater, but ANYWHERE), is to be aware of your backstop. What witnessed a few times was people shooting with no backstop, with campgrounds and trails behind just a hundred yards of trees as a buffer. We also saw shooting areas with small berms where people were using the top of those berms to put their "trigger trash", which means the bullet just keeps on going.

It was great to meet some of you today. Nice turnout, as others have already mentioned. I saw a lot of folks with garbage bags randomly picking up along the road as well, and I KNOW that is not a normal sight up there, so a big thank you to all that participated today. I really like the WaGuns sign we left behind letting people know that we picked up for THEM. Hopefully it resonates with most people that see it.

A couple of still images from the GoPro, showing the main pickup sites today in various stages of cleanup.

For those of you that were able to join the tour today, check out these videos. You'll recognize some of the locations. Some of these really just make you wanna :frust:

  2. Sending more bullets down to the main pit below: https://youtu.be/LB-Mh_UmSJU
  3. Here's that "death to cone" video that Wendy mentioned: https://youtu.be/ZPPCNlVlOZA

Hi Dan,

I was mostly taking quick shots (half turned out blurry) to remind myself of some of the bad areas. I put them into this album, but Imgur messed up the rotation of some of them: http://imgur.com/a/JCVps

Definitely saw some small, but decent private shooting areas today, which could be utilized safely by those who know to use a backstop, and not shoot across roads/trails/water, but as can be seen in these photos, the riff raff out there don't have safety in mind. Also, is tagging trees in a national forest a thing now? My oh my...

I tired pawning off but nobody wanted any. I'll force feed next time.

Also thanks to everyone who showed up on only two weeks notice. I was impressed at how many showed up although i didn't meet half the people. I believe we showed our local Greenwater resident that we can come together for a good cause and that the majority of us shooters are responsible or at least try to be. With that being said we still have lots of work to be done in that area to keep the local residents safe from stray bullets.

Does anyone know who all the groups were that cleaned up? We seen a few people on the sides of the road cleaning up. Thinking we could contact them when we have another clean and shoot.
