FS-70 clean-up OCT-3 8:30am

Sat Sep 19, 2015 7:12 pm

USFS has set a date for a clean up off FS-70. Starting with the forest clearing FS-7013 and hopefully moving up to the upper and lower pits if we have enough people. The rangers will provide a dumpster for sure and maybe Porta Potty. Also the rangers will be in contact with northwest firearms to get their cleanup crew involved. The start time for this event is 8:30am tell finished. Contact Martie Schramm, District Ranger for any other questions mschramm@fs.fed.us 425-888-8751

The coordinates to the clearing 47°07'01.1"N 121°35'11.4"W

Thanks for posting this! I have added it to the WaGuns Community Calendar.

Folks, there has been a lot of discussion about the future of shooting at Greenwater; this cleanup is an opportunity for us to make things better. Check out the whole discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=57948.

MADrtcw, was it you that I met at the meeting today? This is Arnold. If so, it was nice to connect, and thanks for posting this here.

If the quail hunting season opener wasn't that same weekend, I would definitely help out. Last time I was at Greenwater a few weeks ago, there was a lot of trash all over the place. Glad to hear it will be dealt with.

The greenwater resident had pictures of the trash at the forest clearing during the meeting. I personally told her that we could have it cleaned up in a few minutes since most of it was all in the same place and not spread out but she didn't believe me so lets prove her wrong come oct-3. The way i see it is that are credibility as responsible target shooters is at stake with the rangers office and the local residents on this issue if we don't have a good turn out good or bad weather.

Bump!
I'm hoping to be there with my wife.
Is anyone staying afterwards to shoot?

Of course I'm serious!! No, actually, I'm not. Given the sensitivity of the neighbors...

LOL . . . well, typically the answer is "OH HELL YES" to shooting when a cleanup is done. thumbsup

If MADrtcw thinks this would be a bad idea for any reason, it would be good to hear it.

I'm not privy to the exchanges; however, if extreme discretion isn't mandated such that we don't have to clean and leave without exposing sensitive nerves, I'm all for staying!

What's the point of cleaning, if we can't reap the rewards of showing them what safe shooting is afterwards.

Maybe even get a few of the residents to pop a few rounds.

No firearms allowed at this cleanup....... :ROFLMAO: Of course we'll shoot. I'm hoping we get a lot of people so we can shoot more then we clean. The last time I was at the forest clearing all the trash was right near the road so at least some people were removing trash out of the range area and bring it back. If we can get the forest clearing(FS-7013) cleaned up quick maybe we can get to the pits. Wishful thinking but It would make us look good.

We're pretty far away from the communities, I never heard of it being an issue in that area besides it will be at a late enough hour; nothing to worry about there so come on down and stay.
