Armed Citizens Making a DifferenceThe number of justifiable homicides by armed citizens has been creeping upward over the past several years, and according to an article at the Crime Prevention Research Center website, 2017 closed out with nearly two dozen incidents in which gun-toting private citizens stopped attacks. http://libertyparkpress.com/35862-2/

Two dozen seems like a low number..... there has to be some under-reporting there. (edit) I would expect the number of prevented incidents would be higher than the number of justifiable homicides.

A little Googling could probably come up with at least 10 incidents in WA alone. I agree, too, that there must be way more people NOT getting shot than however many reach room temperature as a result of a confrontation. It seems like gathering reliable data on those numbers would be difficult, though, since how would a police report flag prevented incidents? Either someone got shot or they didn't, and if they didn't then nobody cares (or at least nobody counts it).

If a gun owner does not fire a shot, yet the weapon deters or stops an attack, how WOULD it be reported? We hear stories all the time about gun owner pulling weapon and attacker hauling tail, problem is there is not way to document, verify and tabulate that sort of information into anything useful. Unless the gun owner holds the suspect at gunpoint until police arrive AND there is a citable offense it would not even be reported in a way the FBI could pull data would it? Plus there would need to be a field/location on a form to note gun owner stopped attack, etc..

Would seem that these statistic's make a far stronger case FOR firearm carry than all the prohibitionist activism out there.
"If it only saves one life" is their mantra. How many lives were saved in these reported incidents? Most likely a lot more than those who's Birth Certificates are no longer valid.
Another positive, when the attacker is killed even more people are protected. Chances are if only wounded or arrested they'd be lightly spanked by our current justice system and in a couple years would be back on the street, armed, and resuming their criminal career.
