I didn't know, but I could have guessed . . . same with just about any gun show, same with SHOT Show.

My guess is that if some whackjob decided to try to shoot up this particular Gun Free Zone that they'd find out pretty quickly that there are plenty of exceptions to the rule.

SHOT is at Sands Venetian correct? They don't allow firearms on the property in guest suites either. Doesn't matter what event you're attending or not attending.

The Secret Service is in attendance as well. If they weren't I'd guess they wouldn't bother with additional security detail for metal detectors, pat downs, and bag searches. Also, we are talking about the state of Georgia where you can legally be shot just for prowling a car.

Yes . . . and aren't you saying that the situation is the same at the venue where the NRA convention is? No carry at all, even when the NRA isn't there?

Yes. The Georgia World Congress Center where the NRA convention is being held in Atlanta doesn't allow carry.

Not sure what you're talking about. Several people were carrying sidearms throughout the weekend. Saw it with my own eyes. There was even one guy doing it Sunday morning in the press room.

New guns, new changes, what is next, is Trump going to do anything about the existing ridiculous laws, internal chat and morale at ATF, overruling older state gun laws, SAF and NRA relationship, FFL regulations, NRA helping current state battles, etc - you know - something different than the junk press?

Well, let's take this one at a time.
Congress must act on ridiculous laws. Trump's only function is to sign or veto legislation.
Trump seems to be appointing people who are interested in changing things at ATF, but that doesn't happen overnight.
Trump has no constitutional authority to "overrule older state laws." That's up to the courts, and Trump can fill more than 100 vacancies, but then it will take time for cases to be filed, appealed and maybe be accepted by SCOTUS, and that's not a sure thing.
Trump has nothing to do with the relatonship between NRA and SAF or any other group.
NRA is helping current state battles, but there are 50 states, NRA does not have a bottomless bank account, and Michael Bloomberg does.

I'm licking my chops for the future. Having President Trump speak at the NRA meeting is really most excellent. I am stoked by that.
He is POTUS, not a king, but we have a leader who is not bashing 2A in subtle and not-so-subtle ways at each and every opportunity. I can't stop grinning.

Kinda missed my point. I was not being Trump-centric on all points, I was being NRA specific on some.

I am hopeful on ATF.

Thanks.

I'm talking about exactly what I said. I work the GWCC at least once a year for the past five years and every year the same signs are up.
You seeing firearms tells me they exercise their right to prohibit firearms when they choose to.

I leave you with this note:

Firearms Policy for the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings:

During the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, lawfully carried firearms will be permitted in the Georgia World Congress Center and the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center in accordance with Georgia law. However, firearms are not allowed in the remainder of the CNN Center, including the food court and shops. When carrying your firearm, remember to follow all federal, state and local laws.

Now, if they are exercising their right as property owners...first, who is this "they?"

Your gripe seems an attempt to link NRA with some kind of management thing.

I have no gripe. I'm stating facts. "They" is the GWCC.
