Nfa question

Wed Jan 05, 2022 4:03 pm

Have a question for the hive mind. Bought a suppressor online, had it shipped to ffl. I have used the silencershop kiosk for my last 4 purchases and it was seamless, even if i didn’t buy it from silencershop. I purchased the $200 tax stamp from silencershop, and the ffl assigns the silencer to the tax stamp to start eform 4. Wait 9 months.

This time, silencer arrived at the ffl, and the staff seemed to have trouble what to do next. Is there anything i could do to help grease the wheel?

I'm confused. Is this a different FFL than before? Why the confusion?

Is it maybe related to the electronic Form 4 that is coming online?

That would be my guess, I can't even log in.

It was at the same ffl. The lgs guy that used to help me moved to east coast.

it seemed I haven't found someone there that knows how to handle nfa stuff that doesn't even involve
silencershop kiosk.

Morons.

Tell them to go into their silencer shop account and add it to their inventory, then assign it to you.

If they can’t handle that, have them send it to me and pay you for educating them on how to handle business.

The shop can’t simply call Silencer Shop and ask them for instructions? Not knowing the answer is one thing, but not knowing where to look for the answer is something else.

I tried calling silencershop too, but their wait time is about 2 hrs. Crazy.

Truly it is.

They have so many phone calls and emails coming in lately that they have taken to shutting off their Live Chat and phone system for incoming calls periodically. On Monday there was a four hour wait.

If the shop is selling NFA items they can certainly use some hourly employee’s time to monitor a phone on hold during the workday as they do other tasks. Otherwise trying to sell NFA items using the SS system is as logical as the Underpants Gnomes’ business plan on South Park. It’s like a Jiffy Lube not knowing how to add oil to an engine.

So i went into the store and they assigned the silencer to my name. Now when i go into silencershop, and it says "awaiting customer eform certification".

Is there anything that needs my attention? Thanks.

Also, i have 2 silencers still in jail, and it looks like the tax stamp was cashed last April. That seems to be a bit more than the 200 days that most are being approved. Should i be concerned?

Your dealer should be contacting sooner or later to setup time to certify the Form 4. If you are applying as a trust, you can do it remotely. If you are applying as a individual, you will have to go in person to certify the form. You'll need an ATF eForms account for this. If you don't have one, create one, and take note of the assigned user name, and the PIN that you create. You will need your username and PIN to certify the form. The email address you use with Silencer Shop and the eForms needs to be the same, if they are processing the form through Silencer Shop.
