Gentlemen. I come to you with a question. I have inherited a large piece of machinery that I have no idea how to use. Mill / Drill link below. Serious piece of equipment. My question to you guys . . . Is there a market for this behemoth with gun guys? It came from a gun guy . . but its never been used or possibly just looks like it hasn't. So here I set with this huge paper weight. Considered selling it on the bay, but freight shipping online is daunting. Have already posted it on WA with zero response and craigs list people seem to think its not worth more than 200$ Any thoughts? https://www.amazon.com/Grizzly-G1126-Ge ... roduct_top

I'll take it for $200. I'll even come pick it up.

I think the issue is. A real machinist would not buy that type/quality of machine. And a hobby / beginner cannot afford or justify that expensive of machine.

That's about as perfect as it gets. The bottom line is, it's only worth what people are willing to pay. What did you have it up on CL for? Does it come with any accessories? There may be a small market here to try and sell. Hell, I'd be interested if it were cheap enough.

You might just be surprised at how many "real" machinists do buy Grizzly machine tools. The owner is a world class shooter and sells a crap-ton of his lathes to gunsmiths as well as shooter/diy'er's that make their own "guns". Do not confuse "Grizzly" with Harbor Freight.

I'm not judging the capabilities or quality of this product. Just stating my simple opinion. This subject has been discussed in a few other threads. I myself use a Jet Mill/Drill. To do a lot of firearm projects. What I tell people: "Your only limited by your imagination " deadshot2 wrote: survivor wrote: I think the issue is. I've bought and sold a lot of this type of equipment.
If you put it up for $1500, you'll have an offering in the $1000-1200 range. Take it. That's all it'll bring.

Gentlemen, Thanks for the responses. Its definitely a quality tool and came from someone I would consider a real machinist. Unfortunately its capable of doing far more than I have any clue how to do. Not mention its huge and heavy. I don't currently have an ad up for it I haven't posted it since March. Its sitting on a 400$ cart so I have been advertising it for 2k comes with some random accessories bits and clamps. Thanks for the feedback.

Until three months ago I had never seen or used a mill. Since then I've finished two rifle receivers and one 1911 with another soon to be finished. Don't discount yourself from learning.

Don't discount yourself from learning. I agree with this. I have some scrap aluminum blocks if you want to practice. I could even show you how to use it.
