Somebody fact check my thoughts make sure I’m not missing anything obvious. I’ll call rainier arms tomorrow but wanted a few ideas prior. Changing barrels on my AR. Not new to this but first time seeing this. I am pretty sure my barrel is cut wrong where the gas block goes. My gas tube extends way too far into the upper. Rainier ultramatch .223 wylde barrel. Calls for rifle gas tube. That’s what I installed. You can see in the pictures how that one is too long but the mid length is too short. Rifle tube measures at 15. Mid length tube is 11.5ish. Gas block sits flush and that shoulder measures about 11in to upper. Is my barrel cut wrong?

Thanks! I should have known those dimensions were somewhere. My rifle is 11.25 from gas shoulder to upper. Apparently this is about an inch short. Story of my life. WTF Hopefully Rainer can help fix this.

Yeah I'm interested as well. Going by the info Juk posted, and your measurements, it DOES sound like your barrel is made wrong.

I think I'd double check that the gas tube wasn't cut long.

There is also a rifle length gas tube that is longer than a standard rifle length tube. I cannot quote the dimensions but it is in use on Wilson Combat AR10 uppers, it is slightly longer than a milspec rifle length tube. I ran into this when putting an AR10 together. I ordered a rifle length tube and it was too short, found out my upper was "Wilson" spec. . https://wilsoncombat.com/gas-tube-rifle ... ar-10.htmlRifle Length - AR-10/LR308/SR25 Mil-spec stainless tube Length: 15.5" Tube only Does not fit AR-15 rifles I wonder if you accidentally got one of these?

White Oak Armament will make you one any length. Used them before I started making my own. Says backordered, might call and ask. https://www.whiteoakarmament.com/white- ... -tube.html

Gas tube is correct for rifle. That what I was hoping for originally for the easy fix.

This led me in the right direction. I learned something new today. There exists an “intermediate” gas tube length for this application. 13.25in between a rifle and mid length. WTF. https://wilsoncombat.com/gas-tube-inter ... ength.htmlI was doubting that Rainier Arms cut a barrel wrong on a premium barrel but that’s what I was thinking until now.
