Until sometime around 1990 ATF used to require buyers of handgun ammunition to fill out a line in a purchase log.
ATF discontinued it because it was time consuming and the data was worthless.

Like NJ keeping a record of everyone who buys caustic drain cleaner after a couple of hookers were splashed in the face.
Number of houses in NJ with drain cleaner under the bathroom sink? Most if not all.

Certainly sounds like they have a lot of time and money to piss away. You don't have the money or manpower to keep criminals behind bars where they belong, so lets make more criminals. Only in CA does that make any sense. The folks in Olympia are equally bright so I they might try it.

I wonder how much of that stuff is going to monitored and regulated after the Feds cut off their funding? They don't seem to take care of the important stuff now, without asking the Fed for help.
