Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Are you a permanent resident? That's why we get delayed right off the bat. You get a hit on ice's database therefore are delayed until they look into your immigration status. All my purchases are delayed by 24 hours, first one too 3 days but I'm sure the ffl released the gun to me without hearing back as I had a cpl. Hopefully when I become a citizen this year it will stop! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk I also got delayed a lot while I was a permanent resident. There's another reason, when they run the "triple I", you will have a federal file on record for getting fingerprints for your green card. Mine shows I have a record at the Portland OR FBI office. So they have to always check in to what is going on with that. Of course, I have an FFL 03 and a CPL so it should not be rocket science. Haven't bought a gun since I got my citizenship. Yep I'm going to be getting a ffl when I become a citizen too. Possibly even export permit, I've got a itching to be in the firearms industry lol. Plus I know what the Canadian market wants at least for high-end long range rigs :D Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Good news, my wife applied for a CPL today and she was confirmed that it would be 30 days, and they have changed their procedures.

I've been so busy with the holidays I didn't concern myself with it and put it out of mind. Now I will have to make a call to find out where it's at. Perhaps they are just back logged and it's an honest mistake. Starting to think otherwise... Let us know how you go. It would be interesting to get some idea as to how often they are breaking the law. Finally got around to calling Issaquah PD. I was told they are 30+ days behind in processing due to the election. I asked what the law was for obtaining it since it was past the 30 days. I was told they would not issue until processed and that a citizen would have to sue to get it any sooner. They claim they would rather be sued than issue a permit to someone who doesn't pass their background check and fulfill all requirements of the law to CC. I surely don't have time or money to sue. Wish there was a penalty for their failure to comply with the law. They could wilfully delay without consequences. Pisses me off frankly. I'm sure they'd have no problem charging me for carrying concealed without a permit if I were caught.

Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk DOL doesn't issue the CPL's, they are issued by your local LE Agency.

Another reason why it's taking so long is that some of these agencies are using a volunteer(s) to process the applications. One of the agencies in King county has one little old lady that volunteers and that's all she does.

I'd be willing to throw in some money if you could find a civil rights lawyer...
I was starting to think about such, and I think perhaps calling the NRA for advice on a lawyer unless someone else knows of a lawyer that does civil rights work?

That's going too far. The system was setup and expectations were established, they aren't being met due to the system being over taxed. In the accounts recorded here, no one has had their rights denied. Instead of making a lawsuit, why not ask how you can help.

I called the King County Courthouse one last time in a last ditch attempt to sort it out, and it's not going to happen today as it requires instruction from their legal dept., but I am actually confident this is an honest mistake and hopefully nobody else (ie. my wife) will have to go through a purposeful delay beyond the maximum allowed by law. If you strike out, PM me. I know a Sgt who sits right across the hall from them. No promises. I would ask them to help on the basis that they don't want to look stupid and better to just resolve this in a timely manner.

Do y'all have any idea how long it takes to hire someone into LE that's not even commissioned?

They have the monopoly. The agency actually processing the application gets $4 to do it. Minimum wage is $11 per hour, and I suspect most people involved in the process make more than that. That means unless they can do the whole thing in about 20 minutes, the agency is already losing money on the process, which means without local investment of funds in hiring more people, they are going to keep struggling to keep up with above average demand.
