Where do you get "prohibited with some exceptions".

The question was regarding hospitals. Only ONE type of hospital (other than federal) where firearms are prohibited. Mental Hospitals.

Most hospitals are privately owned and therefore can make their own rules but no law prohibits firearms with the one exception.

For those unfamiliar with the term "NICU" it refers to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which is a special unit within a hospital.

For some reason I thought children's hospital was a no go also. I'll have to look better when I get to a PC

Almost every hospital has a "no weapons POLICY". Like it was said earlier, that doesn't make it illegal. You'll be asked to remove the firearm from the premises and if you refuse then Security will remove you. Being caught with a weapon in a non-mental hospital will not get you arrested unless you have one too many "a-hole genes" and want to argue. Good concealment is the solution.

State law does not list it as a restricted place thus it is legal. Just like there is no law against open carry so it too is legal.

About hospitals being worried about child stealing:

When I was taking my son home from Evergreen in 2002, the alarm went off when we approached the door.
Locked all of the doors in the unit..................
They had to call a supervisor to unlock the door.
No security showed up, armed or otherwise.

LPN/tech forgot to deactivate the bracelet.

Calm down. I was being brief, I meant below are the prohibited places, with some exceptions.

It is legal. They can ask you to leave, and they can also tell you to not come back with or without a gun, ever.

I get what ANZAC was saying.

At the risk of being a bit pedantic...

Since Washington follows the British legal tradition, i.e. "Everything which is not forbidden is allowed"; it should be stated thus:

"Allowed with certain exceptions"

You've noticed too? Since February I spent a dozen days and nights in various hospitals with my wife. A person could have walked in with a machine gun or rocket launcher and nobody would have challenged them as security was invisible. I did stumble on a security guard one night when they locked the door I used to come and go when I went out for a walk. He was sitting on his ass behind a semi-obscured glass eating and reading a book. That was at the emergency entrance where some of Seattle's finest gang-bangers came and went without a worry.

Security=joke? Dead on. So much so that the word Security should be banned from use their case as it's "false advertising".

Nothing, that which is not listed as being illegal is de facto legal just like OC. Most hospitals are private companies so they can have their own rules like COSTCO.
Laws only tell you what you can't do.

Right. There's nothing illegal about carrying in a hospital. And there's nothing illegal about them telling you to get out of there.

Once they ask you to leave, you gotta go. If you don't, expect to talk to a cop about the trespassing which you've just committed.

To my knowledge there is no explicit state law barring the carrying of firearms in a hospital or any other medical facility (except, of course, state mental facilities and corrections-based clinics).

All hospitals have policies about d*mn near everything. They're policies, not law. Be polite while being firm and generally things will go your way.

I've been asked to leave Children's in Seattle because I wanted to stay with one sick child while nursing his infant brother; it came down to me saying something along the lines of "Fine, go ahead and escort me out, I'm sure the news footage of a sobbing, nursing mother being torn away from her other child will reflect extremely well on Children's". Security and the attendings backed off fast, and Children's has since changed their policy on allowing siblings to stay with parents staying with another child.

Same with a concealed firearm. One, concealed is concealed is concealed. Two, I've never asked a non-patient (and as a non-patient, have never been asked) to declare the value of his or her belongings. That's a little odd--we do ask that watches and pretty much anything not a wedding ring be taken off and taken home (and we tape the wedding ring down to your finger with Durapore), but declare value? No.

Theoretically, if the hospital has declared itself a GFZ and you are found to be carrying and refuse to follow requests to remove the firearm from the premises, you could be trespassed, which would suck, so if you're going to carry in the NICU (especially in the NICU; like Mr. Q said, baby theft is a thing) make sure that your firearm is truly concealed. Ditto for your EDC knife.

Grady hospital in Atlanta won't let you in the ER without going through security checking for weapons. Even if you're arriving in a AMBALANCE. No blades. No bows. Leave your weapons here.
