1. No, you may not CCW in either Emerald Queen Casino--that is, inside the buildings. Why? Tribal jurisdiction has nothing to do with it. It is because the entire building--including the showrooms--are considered full fledged liquor establishments. THAT is the only reason.
2. Yes, we are cross-commissioned with Pierce County, Tacoma, and the City of Fife.
3. Referencing #2 above, it's kind of a moot point. A couple of years back, Gov. Gregoire signed into law a measure that recognized Tribal LEO as General authority WA State peace officers--as long as their training is equivalent or better than CJTC. The IPA (Indian Police Academy) is a branch of FLETC, is taught in Artesia, NM, and is over 5 months long. After we go to that, we also attend the WA State BLEA Equivalency--two more weeks.
In short, if you go through the City of Tacoma and you have a CPL, there is a good chance that you have carried on the reservation. It's a LOT bigger than most people think.
Just don't carry in the Casinos, for the reason stated above.
Cordially,
Powderman your friendly Tribal LEO. Thank you for the clarification!

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

What relevant statute?
Let me clarify:
1. You will NOT be arrested, cited or even harassed if you carry on the Puyallup Reservation. If one of us has reason to contact you and you're lawfully carrying, expect a discussion on firearms to be forthcoming. If I'm the one talking, DEFINITELY expect the conversation.
2. If you're looking for the part about carrying firearms inside the Casino, see RCW 9.41.300(d).

I make a practice of buying some sandwiches and juices during my shift. I find people who are homeless, and give it to them. They do appreciate it when someone sees them as a human being, rather than a bother. As it has been said, there but for the grace of God.... As for discussing firearms, I love meeting CPL holders. Why? Because 99.9% of them are good, honest folk. I like it even better when I encounter a soldier, sailor, airman or Marine who carries. Why? Because I know that while I'm there, if something goes bad, I have instant backup. At least most of them, anyway.

I used to do similar until I was put in a bad situation by being nice to the wrong ones.

From the Puyallup Tribal code: 5.12.780 Carrying a concealed firearm.
Any person who knowingly conceals a firearm upon his person or who carries a firearm which is not within plain view in the passenger compartment of his vehicle shall be guilty of a Class B offense. [Res. 201212B (12/20/12); Res. 130691 (06/13/91); prior code § 5.03.510. Formerly 5.12.440]
You could dig further to find a loophole but I either rarely go there or don't carry on property just to avoid any issues. Is this with or without a CPL??

Sir, that is from the Puyallup Tribal Criminal Code.
Consider this: since the Puyallup reservation takes in a REALLY big chunk of Northeast Tacoma, ALL of the City of Fife, part of Milton, and a large piece of unincorporated Pierce Pierce County as well, what good would a CPL do?
Part of our cross commissioning agreement involves enforcing and recognizing the Revised Code of Washington, as well as Pierce County Code and the Tacoma Uniform Crime Docket.
Once, while on duty, I stopped in at Sportco, in Fife. I saw a gentleman open carrying a 1911 in a Galco Combat Master rig.
What did I do?
"Hey...nice rig! I like those grips, too. Where did you get them?"
A few minutes later, after comparing notes about carry ammo, we parted ways amiably.
In short, don't worry about it. Carry with confidence.
