The thing I usually have to worry about is: I have to secure my loaded handgun in my vehicle when I'm at work, as it's one of the prohibited places and doesn't have lock boxes. It's legal for me to do as the vehicle is secured and the handgun is not visible from outside the vehicle. Occassionally my wife wants to switch vehicles or take mine somewhere for lunch. I have to go out, move my bag to the trunk and unload the handgun, as she doesn't have a CPL.

GF got one for that very reason. Even though I don't leave one in my vehicle. At least never when she would take off in it unaware of it.

(2)(a) A person shall not carry or place a loaded pistol in any vehicle unless the person has a license to carry a concealed pistol and: (i) The pistol is on the licensee's person, (ii) the licensee is within the vehicle at all times that the pistol is there, or (iii) the licensee is away from the vehicle and the pistol is locked within the vehicle and concealed from view from outside the vehicle. I was at the Sportsmans Expo in Portland last weekend, was talking with some guy at a booth for a 'multi state concealed carry class' about what they offer. Now I was wearing my RSO shirt for the local range that I am a RSO for. He was telling me that if I have a CPL and am carrying and my wife is in the car and does not have a CPL, that since she is married to me and considered to 'have access to me and my possessions', that I was committing a felony. I asked him to explain that since I've not heard of that BS. He repeated himself said that if my son is in the car with just me, since he is not married he is considered not to have access. Pure BS. When he mentioned it was a federal crime I said bye and walked away.

Unless you unload it and put it in a lock box, yes. Be aware Post Office rules say no firearms "on the property."

No carry on post. <edit> The back of the registration from makes it clear that: Weapons can only be carried in a vehicle when traveling to and from authorized hunting, target practice, matches, or off post locations. When transporting weapons, they must be secured in the vehicle's trunk or, if the vehicle doesn't have a lockable trunk, encased in such a manner that it's not readily accessible to the driver or passengers. Weapons must be transported unloaded and ammunition must be stored separately from the weapon. The registration form must be readily available at all times while a weapon is located on JBLM property. When entering JBLM vehicle occupants are required to declare the presence of any firearms located in the vehicle. Concealed weapon permits are not valid on JBLM.

Thanks. Was assuming that being on military land it would be restricted. But one can hope there might be an exclusion to a rule..
