Interesting, what makes it tactical? How does this differ from the 5906/6906 series?

sinus211 wrote: Interesting, what makes it tactical? How does this differ from the 5906/6906 series? 3913 - standard alloy frame/steel slide single stack 9mm compact. One of the best 9mm ever made. 3913 TSW - same as the 3913 but with a better trigger, heavier frame and slide. 3913TSW "9 Tactical" - all of the above with a matched frame and slide plus an accessory rail and loaded chamber indicator. The 5906 is a double stack full frame. The 6906 is a double stack compact frame. -Greg

HK was the first to put a rail on a pistol starting in 1989 with the USP, while not 1913 picatinny it was a rail system. Glock was the first with the 1913 rail. Sig soon followed with their own rail system , but that didn't last long.S&W 3913tsw started in 1998.

It's weird, all the time I've spent on the S&W researching wheelguns and some of the auto knowledge has rubbed off. I don't really care for them as shooters but I know which ones are rare if I stumble across them in gun stores. Pretty much all of the TSWs are hard to find. Some of those variants had very small runs and collectors go bonkers for them e.g. the 1046 (about 150) or the 5905 (zillions of 5904s and 5906s, but just a few 5905s).

Went to the range this weekend and put 12 mags through it. My gf liked the 3913 a little better, said it fit her hand better. I thought they were exactly the same, but the grip on the 3913TSW as wider than the grip on the 3913. Awesome trigger, shot spot on, 5" groups at 15 yards (good for my old, tired, blurry eyes.) -Greg

Nice looking pieces. Have a soft spot for 3rd Gen Smith. Planning to pick up a 5906 as soon as money allows.
