Well, I've been cogitating on something like this for a while, and the $100 off sale tipped me over the edge this morning: Will show Rust, Will be Covered in filth, May not operate, May be incomplete, Stock may be broken or cracked, May be frozen in grime Original British P-1864 Snider rifle with bayonetMy hope (fingers crossed) is that I'll be able to clean it up and it will be shootable. I'll keep y'all posted.

God fucking damn you Steve. For two years I've been staring at those and for two years I've been talking myself out of buying one. The struggle intensifies.
From what I understand though, basically all of the Sniders have been turning up with nearly perfect bores and very rarely a small missing part. The chambers tend not to be perfectly round though. Google "Snider Chow" to find handy reloading tips for it on the cheap.

Pretty damn cool. Will keep an eye on it. It'd be great if it was a shooter, but even a functioning wall hanger would be pretty badass. Thats a gun to buy now, and have it stay in the family for generations yet.

Just needs a bath in rust remover, Kroil, acetone, then a light media blast. Should clean right up and I expect to see a dead deer with it later this year.
