I had some extra time today on my lunch so I swung by a local Pawn Shop that I had never been into before. I looked at their pistols and most were over priced, and then I made it to their rifles and saw more of the same. I saw the barrel of this on the jam packed rifle rack and knew is was a Paratrooper model due to the length and asked to see it. When he pulled it down I noticed the short stubby mag, (this took AK mags) then saw the cash price. Yup I knew I was taking it home at that point.

The whole time he kept saying that SKS mags are easy to find and are pretty cheap, and that's when I knew he had no idea about this taking standard mags. The mags fit snug, the bore looks good, and its damn nice for the price.

My question to you SKS experts is, was this a standard model that took AK mags or was this a conversion?

That's where I am a bit confused. It says SKS M but the past two M models I have owned have had the thumbhole stock.

Just wondering if this is indeed an M model but with a stock that someone swapped out?

Based on the monte carlo stock Id guess it was factory "built/converted".

Looks to be a factory "M" model. Should take standard AK mags. Usually a $100-$200 premium over standard Chinese SKS's

D model had the thumbhole stock

Nice find if ya got it for the right price...
