Just picked this up at I5 Guns today.

Based on the proofmark it is a 1952 production gun. http://star-firearms.com/firearms/proof.shtml It would be a Model F Sport with a 4" barrel http://star-firearms.com/firearms/guns/f/

Trigger pull is VERY NICE. Almost too nice. Need to see if I can make it a tad bit heavier. Bore looks great, finish is sucky which is why I was hesitant to buy it for the asking price, but finally decided the positives (and the way it felt in my hand!) outweighed the negative of finish.

I think that's pretty damn cool . . . that would catch my eye, too!

As for the finish, meh, I think it looks perfectly fine for what it is.

How many rounds does the mag hold?

For what the gun is, and its age, the finish is in pretty good shape really. Shoot the heck out of it and don't sweat it. As for the trigger, a heavier mainspring will accomplish that, but I'd just enjoy it at the range!

I've still got to take it apart and clean it. The trigger is a little too light for my taste even at the range.

I thought that of a M1892 Winchester awhile back, took it back to the gunsmith at the LGS where I bought it and asked him
if it wasn't dangerous, being that light. He checked it was MT, cocked it and bounced the stock on a carpeted floor a few times
and when it didn't jar the hammer loose pronounced it satisfactory.
With that knowledge and demonstration I took it out and enjoyed it thoroughly. It is the standard by which I judge triggers now.
But that's just me.

I'm not concerned about safety. I just don't like how light the trigger is. I prefer more of a takeup than this has and if I have a short takeup, I like a slightly heavier break than this has.

So I appreciate all the commentary on the trigger but it's just a personal preference.

Just like I told you, find me a Savage .32 and we'll talk.

(I also told that to Steve when he said he'd top your offer by $5 :045:)

Notice how NOBODY has a Savage 1907, 1915 or 1917.

Come one, you both are big boy C&R collectors and I know Ben shares my love of the .32
