I took my Marlin 1895GBL to C.a.R. Firearms in Kent to have the barrel threaded, and I picked it up today. This was a tricky job because there wasn't much muzzle sticking out past the mag tube; Fred had to cut the mag tube back a little to make it work.

Here's the muzzle before he started:

And after he finished:

And here's the whole rifle, with and without suppressor:

I shot a .45-70 with a Silencerco Hybrid at SHOT Show, and I was immediately in love. I ordered the Hybrid, and I took my Marlin down to CaR to make this happen.

My Hybrid still isn't here :frust: , so the photo above is with a Silencerco Omega suppressor . . . wrong bore size so I can't shoot with it, but the mount is the same. By the way, I can still fix six rounds in the tube, though I had to give #6 a pretty good push to get it in there.

I'm absolutely thrilled with Fred's work; it looks like it came from the factory like this. I couldn't be happier. And of course, Christa was awesome to deal without through the process, very informative and helpful. :thumbsup2:

Now . . . I'm just waiting on the damn ATF. :angryfire:

Thanks, guys. I'm really happy with it.

I had an opportunity to shoot basically the same gun at SHOT Show, with the Hybrid suppressor and Critical Defense ammo:

Well, my Hybrid is still awaiting .gov approval . . . but Massivedesign's Hybrid isn't. :thumbsup2:

We had a chance to take it to the range today. The suppressor threaded on beautifully, nice and tight all the way -- thanks for that, Fred. And when we shot it -- wow! Typically the .45-70 is a brutal gun to shoot, but the Hybrid really tamed it and made it FUN.

We were shooting two steel plates, one 4" and one 8", at 100 yards. Those 405-grain bullets SLAMMED those plates! The smaller plate (actually PLATES, as I have two of them back to back to add weight) did a complete spin around the bar when we hit it! What an awesome rifle. thumbsup

Here's Dan shooting it:

And here's Dan's blog about the Hybrid: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=74008

That gun was the perfect way to end the session... Amazing rifle, and an amazing can to complement it. Watching that plate rack dance was a nice bonus.

Thank you Steve for the compliments. It was a bit of a challenge to do the job within the parameters we had, and I'm very pleased you like it.
