Did some upgrades to my VEPR 12. Bought it new from Jody at Rehv Arms on my birthday back in May.

Put a new Hogue pistol grip on.
Put a Phoenix muzzle brake on it.
Added the Chaos quad rail.
Bought 2-8rd and 1-12rd magazines.
Put a cheap light on it.
Put on a FDE Magpul AFG. (Need to switch it out with a black one).

Still thinking about a barrel shroud (mainly for aesthetics).
The existing fixed buttstock, while functional and comfortable, is kinda ugly. If I end up switching that out, I'll likely do that last.

Very cool! Nice shottie. thumbsup

How reliable has your VEPR been?

My first trip to the range, I had some issue with mine; it has some failures to eject, and the hammer didn't reset a couple of times.

Today I took it to the range again, after installing a performance recoil spring. I fired about 50 rounds, 40 of which were cheap-ass low-brass Federal birdshot. I had one failure to eject, and one time when the hammer didn't reset . . . which I thought was pretty good, actually.

I have replaced my trigger group with the ALG AKT, and that required some filing and Dremel work to make it fit the VEPR . . . so maybe it's something I did there.

Just wondering what your experience has been.....

What is the weight on that fully loaded?

I had a Robinson Arms VEPR chambered in 7.62x39 and it seemed like it weighed twice as much as my other AKs

I've only fired 15 slugs through it so far. I'm a member at Renton Fish & Game. They only allow 1 round loaded and fired at a time. Each of the 15 slugs fired and ejected just fine and the bolt hold open functioned each time as well. I need to take it somewhere where I can do some mag dumps, but so far, so good.

Thanks for that.

Slugs worked very well in mine, since they have so much power. Buckshot worked well too. It's the cheap-ass birdshot that's the issue, not surprisingly.

I can't see ever really using lower power loads in it. I'll save those for my SuperNova.

Very nice!

Mine looks similar. I've only shot 00 buck and slugs through it and haven't had a single failure. Haven't tried birdshot so wouldn't know.

Not sure. I don't mind a little extra weight. The recoil from the slugs was quite comfortable and manageable.

Decided to just rattle can the AFG. Everything matches now.

Really want to get a barrel shroud now.

I have a little over 200rds threw mine with high velocity low brass bird shot and some high brass buck shoot. It wasn't very reliable at fist had a stove pipe every five rounds or so but after I shot 50 or so rounds it smoothed out.

Got my barrel shroud from Carolina Shooters today. Looks pretty sweet. Trying to decide now if I want to tear into the rear stock or not.

I like your VEPR! Mine runs flawlessly. I have a saiga as well, it runs perfectly now too. Sometimes these just nead a little help to run lower power loads. The saiga took a lot more work. The gas block covered one of the 4 gas port holes. Different batches have different hole sizes and hole counts. I used a precision drill bit set, and oversized the 3 holes that were not obstructed just 1 size each. Then I put the gas block back in. AND I got a 6 port adjustable gas plug, to prevent any possible over gassing. Took a little over an hour to do, and a day at the range to mess with the settings. Works flawlessly. The veprs worked great from the get go. As for your stock, 99% chance it is folding. I would keep it, and verify with a gunsmith. There is a tack weld on the bottom right corner of the stock that can be ground off to return the folding option. This was done to fall under some import law requiring the stocks be fixed. Do a bit of research, but I think your good to return it to a folder. Good luck, Brian

That's not the folding stock I have the same stock if it was he could sell it for more than a new stock cost. Lol

My Vepr needed a brake in period with high volosity ammo, it took about 50 rounds or so before it started being reliable.
