I have not shot it yet, but did inspect fit and finish pretty thoroughly. I still need to break it down and oil it, since it appears a little dry.
I went shooting with my daughter the night I picked it up. As we were leaving, the employee who did the transfer asked me how it shot. I said I didn't shoot it. He was shocked, and said how can you buy a new gun and not shoot it? I like to inspect and lubricate a new gun rather than just shoot it. Plus, it was the 1st night of a homeschool firearm course with my daughter - it was her night, not mine.
The QC build checklist included is pretty amazing - two pages of little checkboxes and initials. Finish is very nice. Blending of parts is top notch. Frame fit up and down has no movement, side to side - very slight. Slide action is very smooth. It's not chocked full of features, but very well made. I'm not a fan of fiber fronts sights, so I'll probably replace the front sight. Barrel fit is perfect - not hard fit, but tight.
The trigger is 3.5lbs and very good, reset is a bit longer than some other 1911s I have, but positive. Not a fan of pistols without a positive reset you can't feel.
I figure the bluing will wear nicely, and will look better with age. I'll get uglier as the pistol gets prettier. LOL

Among the words, other actions and other gifts while I was visiting my family, my dad blessed me up with this new Remington 700 SPS in 300 Win Mag with a Nikon Monarch 3. He also gave me one of his Gerber Mk II knives that he paid a whole $18 for new many years ago.

I had a cleaning party so that was a good excuse for a "family" photo 20170926_185500_HDR by Judge Dread, on Flickr
