I just recently picked up my grandfathers 30-06. Dated it to the fifties, Belgium made, Mauser action. I tried to upload a photo but photobucket crapped out and I lost everything. Damnit.

My Grandpas Remington Model 34. I'm not sure when he got it but I'm glad that I have it.

Dang . . . there's just something about an old .22. Do you know how old the gun is, roughly?

They were made from 1932-1935. It's interesting in that it appears to be in a Model 512 stock. The original 34 stock had finger grooves on the forearm. The hole on the back of the receiver is for a peep sight. Cool old .22, I have a soft spot for them as well.

I knew it was from the early thirty's but didn't know that it may not be the original stock. I was thinking that the holes in the receiver were for a scope mount. Thanks for the info! I've shot it once and was surprised on how accurate it is. Definitely something about an old bolt action .22 that makes me go ahhhhh......

I stopped in at Pinto's today and found a new toy, an Argentine M1909 cavalry carbine. Caliber is, of course, 7.65 Argentine, or 7.65 Belgian, or 7.65x53, or 7.65x54, or whatever the hell you want to call it. it's the rifle on the bottom; the one on the top is its longer and older cousin, my M1891 Argentine made in 1892. The carbine, even though it's a Model 1909, was actually made in 1951 so it's not that old.

Nice one!
What did they do, cut down rifles in the 50's to make the carbines?
